Itinerary

You will be met on arrival at Madrid Airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore Madrid at your leisure. Tonight, meet your Tour Leader and fellow travellers for a welcome tapas dinner at a local restaurant.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before discovering the sights of the city on a guided tour. Visit Barrio de la Morería, the Hapsburgs District, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa. See the grandeur of the Royal Palace and take in the iconic Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. In contemporary Madrid, visit Gran Vía, Castellana and spend time in the district of Salamanca as well as the commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. After breakfast, travel to Salamanca and enjoy free time to explore this university city and UNESCO World Heritage Site of great architectural and artistic Importance. Continue to the Portuguese border to reach Porto. Located along the picturesque Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European towns and proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.

Enjoy the evening at leisure. Consider visiting the Ribeira area, its river bank is lined with charming restaurants, serving traditional fare. It is also a great stop from which to take in the views of Gaia and the Dom Luís I Bridge.

Continue to Ronda, one of the oldest towns in Spain, to visit a local almazara (olive oil mill) and learn about the art of olive oil production and taste some of the produce.
