Itinerary

You will be met on arrival at Lisbon Airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy free time to begin exploring Lisbon. Tonight, meet your Tour Leader and fellow travellers for an authentic Portuguese welcome dinner at a local restaurant on the other side of the Tagus River.

After breakfast, take part in a guided tour of the ancient Olissipo. As you drive through the avenues you will see Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Monument to the Discoverers, Marquis of Pombal Square and Liberty Avenue. Learn the history of Olissipo during the Roman Empire.

This afternoon is at leisure, so you can enjoy this magnificent city. Perhaps explore the nostalgic corners of Alfama Quarter; the old city clustered beside the castle with its vibrant narrow streets and authentic taverns. Walk through the iconic Rossio square or simply soak up the atmosphere at one of the many cafes located in the square.

This morning, you depart for Montemor-o- Novo, a charming town famous for its rich history and breathtaking natural surroundings. Known for its vineyards you will experience a visit to a local winery, complete with a tasting of the region’s exquisite wines.

Next, continue to Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and historical significance. Led by an expert local guide, you will explore the magnificent Roman Temple, the hauntingly beautiful Chapel of Bones, and the grand Évora Cathedral. Stroll through the picturesque streets, surrounded by whitewashed houses and vibrant squares, to soak in the unique atmosphere of this enchanting city.

Wander through the Main Cloister and take in the stunning Manueline architecture and intricate details. Today, journey to Aveiro, known for its picturesque canals, which have earned it the nickname “The Venice of Portugal”. Enjoy a ride on a moliceiro, a traditional colourful boat used for navigating the canals of Aveiro.

Next, head to Porto, a city of old-world charm with its picturesque red roofs, azulejotiled and pastel painted buildings. Visit the museum, “Porto Across the Ages”, where you will embark on a captivating journey through Porto’s rich history, from its medieval origins to its modern-day splendour. Interactive exhibits and multimedia displays bring the past to life, offering a deep understanding of the city’s evolution and cultural heritage.

Following the museum visit, head to one of Porto’s renowned wine cellars for a guided tour. Here, you will learn about the intricate process of Port wine production and the unique characteristics that make these wines world-famous. End the tour with a tasting session, where you can savour a selection of fine Port wines, appreciating their complex flavours and aromas.

This morning, take a guided sightseeing tour of Porto. Admire one of the city’s oldest monuments, Porto Cathedral. This Romanesque cathedral offers stunning views of the city and the Douro River. See the former Stock Exchange Palace and the stunning 600-year-old Church of Santa Clara.

The rest of the day is yours to explore this incredible city at your own pace. Perhaps cruise the River Douro on a traditional Rabelo boat or wander through the medieval laneways and small squares.

This evening, enjoy a traditional fado dinner show.

Today, journey to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Batalha Monastery, an architectural masterpiece of Gothic fused with Manueline style. Delve into the past as you explore the ornately decorated Main Chapel and the Cloisters.

On the way to Lisbon, visit Óbidos, a charming medieval town located in the central region of Portugal. It is renowned for its well-preserved 12th century castle and historic centre with its narrow cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses adorned by colourful flowers, and beautiful traditional tile work. The town, encircled by sturdy 14th century walls, offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Arrive in Lisbon and check in to your hotel. Later, enjoy a farewell dinner of typical Portuguese dishes at a local restaurant. A wonderful way to share fond memories and bid farewell to your fellow travellers.
